Dr. Peter Zeil

Peter Zeil is a remote sensing and Earth observation expert with experience in programme implementation, institutional development, project planning and management, and capacity building. He has a background in dealing with a wide range of professionals and senior government officials as well with other development partners’ representatives as a member of the GMES&Africa Coordination Team and negotiations for the implementation concept of this pan-African programme. He has extensive experience in developing countries in institutional and policy development for rural development, food security and support to humanitarian assistance. He also acted as an advisor to the European Commission and cooperation partners for the implementation of the Copernicus Cooperation Programme with the Philippines (CopPhil) and the Africa–EU Space Partnership Programme (AESPP). He is one of the co-founders of the spin-off company Spatial Services Ltd in Salzburg, Austria, and member of the Eratosthenes CoE External Advisory Board.
